Nomadic Chefs Table

As we settled into the street side dining at Jimmy’s Catering Coffee Eats in Warana the atmosphere was super relaxed. Everyone happily chatting away and into their drink of choice (the added bonus of a BYO dining experience).

I was so surprised in all who came, it wasn’t a case of knowing everyone, just one of those events where people you don’t know are showing their support because they think what you are doing is great. I would be lying if I didn’t acknowledge the amazing line up of Chef’s that were serving up the foods, that in itself brought a lot of people to the event, and I can’t thank them all enough for donating their time

The food was absolutely spectacular. Each chef stepped up their game and produced intricate, mouth watering works of edible art.

The Six Course Menu was as followed;

Course one:

Cameron Charles of Stones Throw Restaurant the Gold Coast:

Grilled Nectarines, Balsamic, Comte

Course Two:

Ethan King - Corbins Kitchen: Kingfish, Chilli, Lemongrass, Cucumber

Course Three:

Simon Hamner - Rick Shores Potato Salad

Course Four:

James Wilson - Jimmys Twice cooked Pork belly, Nahm Jihm, Baby Veg

Course Five:

Jake Pregnell - Corbins Kitchen Lamb Rump, Frurikake, Bone Marrow, Turnip

Course Six:

Zarko Baru - Dessert Architects White Chocolate & Raspberries

My two favourites all though it wasn’t an easy task deciding, had to be the potato salad by Simon Hamner of Rick Shores and the Lamb Rump by Jake Pregnell. The potato salad had me from its display. It was insane!!! The potato was formed into what looked like an egg, it was hard and had to be cracked. Once it cracked, the dressing oozed out and coated the plate. It was easily the coolest thing I have ever eaten and YES! the flavour matched the show.

The Lamb rump was cooked to utter perfection (although my mother in law would disagree – she likes all meat dry and burnt ha-ha) and It was dressed with hand-picked seaweed from the local beach Warana which gave it this yummy, salty crunch to add to the plate, pairing perfectly with the creaminess of the bone marrow and the turnip.

We also had an amazing list of prizes donated to the event by local businesses, the main two prizes were dinner with football legend “” this was an anonymous bid won by “” for $00000 and the Ladies classic Swiss movement watch from Underwood Jewellery valued at $425. There were wine packs, hair dressing vouchers, a growler of Larry from Your Mates and dining vouchers, compiling a list of 5 very lust worthy prizes.

We brought home a total of $30000 to go towards the building project from this amazing, belly and soul satisfying night.

Thank you to the amazing team at Corbins, all of the Chefs involved and to all of the local businesses who donated a gift. Your kind, generosity will forever change the lives of the village kids for ever.
